Hands on learning has become more widespread in the last couple of decades. Where once children used to read from the book or be shown overheads, then fill in answers on a piece of paper, now they get to have projects where they build, create, learn and grow. Where once the nearest a child came to understanding a volcano was from the picture that supplemented the text, now they will have one unit in the class curriculum devoted to researching volcanoes online, building one with the rest of the class and demonstrating what they have learned with a paper, a report they present to the class or perhaps an oral test where they tell the teacher all they now know about volcanoes. Education has taken great strides towards holistic learning. The rising generation has the chance to have a much firmer grasp of the concepts they learn at school because the topics are accessible from so many varying angles.
